Vol. 285 - US Presidents and Your Investments
Dear member,
It was only two weeks ago when another gaffe from Mitt Romney led many to believe this election was all but over for the former Massachusetts Governor. Nearly all the major polls had him trailing in the crucial swing states leading up to the debate last Wednesday. However, as is the case with many prize fighters, when a politician sits on a lead and plays it safe, they leave the door open for their opponent. That's exactly what Obama did during the debate, and Romney capitalized.
Romney is now back in this race for the White House with more than a puncher's chance. According to recent polls, Romney's stock is rising quickly on the back of his strong debate performance. Nate Silver, in an article published by The New York Times, reported that:
"Four of the five national polls published on Saturday showed improvement for Mr. Romney. In the Rasmussen Reports tracking poll, which conducted about two-thirds of its interviews after the debate, we went from a two-point deficit against Barack Obama to a two-point lead. Mr. Romney gained two points in the Gallup tracking poll, which now shows him down by three. He also gained roughly 1.5 percentage points in the RAND Corporation's online tracking poll, reversing a gain that Mr. Obama had made on Friday. And a companion pair of polls published by Clarus Research Group just before and after the debate showed a five-point swing toward Mr. Romney. He trailed Mr. Obama by four points in a poll that Clarus Research Group conducted on Tuesday night, before the debate, but led him by one point in a poll they conducted on Thursday."
The next 29 days leading up to the election will likely be a back and forth battle between Obama and Romney. It will be a very close election according to just about every political analyst out there. And our investments will be influenced significantly by the winner of the Presidential race.
With the US Presidential election less than a month away, and the debate season officially kicking off this past week, it's time to see how much we all know about US Presidents and their impact on our portfolios.

Do you know what is considered to be the most advantageous sector to invest in during a Democrats second term?
