Deluded Optimism?

It will be a short blog for this week as I am not feeling overly eloquent or creative.

Throughout the time I've belonged to this community I've witnessed strong and intelligent discourse. The dialogues I've seen have been poignant and investigative. They have dealt with public knowledge, personal opinion, and occasionally exclusive and management-gained information. All of this is essential for making powerful investment decisions.

What I've also recently witnessed has been an underlying tone of overtly unsubstantiated optimism. Clearly this is natural since most of the investors belonging to this community don't post if they've shorted particular stocks, but instead represent long-term positive outlooks. Although this might stem from natural causes, it can also blind us of the occasional negative truth.

Sometimes our investments are based on wrong decisions. Success also comes from knowing when one has made a bad decision. Purely positive posts will never bring about such epiphanies. All I ask is for constructive criticism, insightful skepticism, and enlightened members to occasionally play the devil's advocate. I am pretty sure that this will benefit all of us.
