Re: Stock Challenge for August 2012
Hey guys thanks. Because of my eye issues I have not been able to spend much time on the computer this summer and spell check is not much good for picking stocks. Althought I seem to do better when I do nothing these days. I used to own a ton of Baja but it sat flat for so long I sold it all off. I am just happy things are on the move up across the board. We are going to be traveling the middle of September to Greece (I don't think we are spending enough to turn them around) and also staying in Turkey a while. Last time I travelled that time of year and in that big a time zone differance I found it very hard to monator the stocks on a daily bassis, so I'm hoping to be set up then just leave them alone for awhile and hope the upward trend will continue for the next few months. Hopeing there will be a bit of a rally with good fall numbers from the US - and an election, but you never know. The banks seemed to surprise everyone but the banks. That was a good sign.
All the best guys - coming in second or third if these numbers hold up will be my best monthly finish yet, so no complaints from me.

Re: Stock Challenge for August 2012
CSL could run some after the pp cancellatiion announcement due to pending assay news, obvious;y good but to catch mrca's BAJ may be asking a little much. Tomorrow and Friday will see some fireworks, I beleve.
Re: Stock Challenge for August 2012
Hey Bray, mjca is right about timing. Two days to go.. Day traders and shorters may end up influencing the final result.
Re: Stock Challenge for August 2012
It's not over by a long shot. It's anybodys chance to win. Very interesting this month how some have shot way up only come back down. Timing is everythig here.
Re: Stock Challenge for August 2012
I was really surprised at the rise of my picks and where was, but looks like a last minute surge by arielpls is going to be the run away winner - this is the closed I've ever come. Oh well, silver isn't bad these days if this holds up. I'm not expecting a serious rally by Friday, I wasn't even expecting this. Not sure what's driving the markets right now. Very confusing, but I'll take what I can sqeeze out right now. Lets hoep for a rally this week.

Re: Stock Challenge for August 2012
Gee, Bray, i that I had a good shot at winning the Pinnacle Gold Medal. Now it looks like I will be lucky to squeeze out a bronze and more likely not to make the podium at all.
Re: Stock Challenge for August 2012
Hi, sorry to hear about your eye. I've learned it's very hard to adapt to one eye. I am hoping for full vision back within the year. Just in time for the stock rally.
I see I have slipped back again already oh well, it was nice while it lasted. Yes, thank god I live in Canada.
three operations since July - I would be broke, even with a health care plan in the US. Lot's going on in the world right now, but so far the low cost of stocks and borrowing have worked well for me, but I am banking on a serious turn around in the next 5 to 10 years or I'll have to move the family to the interior of Mexico. I think if Obama gets in the US markets will stabilize. I think the Euro problems have already drivin down the markets as far as they will go because of their problems, but if the US and China don't pick up agian soon, I think we still have room to fall, and interest could stay low for another year. But every time you pick up a paper the story changes, so not sure what to believe. sooner or later, the world will need metals again, to build. Canada is a save place to mine. A few more days and you could be this months champ again. Congrats to you.

Re: Stock Challenge for August 2012
Hi Bray, Both the Pinnacle Stock Challenge and the US election race has been tighter than the lug nuts on a 59 Ford. I pull away, then fall back, so its a race to the finish. I have had a lot of work on my eyes as well. Diabetes has caused some macular degeneration in my right eye, plus recent cataract surgery. The disease has me on a short leash but it is my own fault not controlling my sugars a few years back. Thank God for Canadian Health insurance. As for the US elections, my fear is that Romney would stumble on the World stage so I have to go for the lesser of the two evils, but then again I have no vote. Regardless of who wins, I feel all hell is going to break loose soon after the elections if Obama wins or after the honeymoon period should Romney pull it off. Cheers, Frank
Re: Stock Challenge for August 2012
Hey Frank, very nice to see you on top the leader board again. I have had a very odd summer with three eye operations since July first - so I haven't been paying that much attention to the market. My goal was to make my picks go to the cottage and recover. What a surprise when I looked at the standing today for the first time. Nice to see some old names back up here.
Lets all hope the trend continues. Being an election year it could be a bit rocky, but I think the race will be so close that it won't affect the markets at all. If anything, it should be a positive year regardless of the outcome. No more checking for another two weeks. I hope I will be as happy as I am today. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
