We’ve arrived at the end of this month’s contest!

Please give it up for member ‘Rodney Gibson’! Capitalizing on junior exploration company, Goff Corp’s, explosive run in the last week of the month, ‘Rodney Gibson’ blasted through the ranks and closed the month in top spot with an average yield of approximately 117.26% — almost double the return of our 2nd place finisher.

Congratulations ‘Rodney Gibson’! It’s the most comfortable first place finish we’ve seen in months!

Behind ‘Rodney Gibson’, ‘HHT’ finished 2nd after picking two battery stocks. HHT’s selections, Vision Lithium and Cruz Cobalt, combined for an average return of ~62.78% this month.

In 3rd place, member ‘looky1’ claimed the final podium position with an approximate 49.97% avg. return thanks to mineral exploration companies Cassier Gold and West High Yield Resources.

Congratulations to the three of you! Your well-earned prizes will be on their way shortly. Please monitor your inbox for an email from our support team.

The Stock Challenge Index (SCI)

SCI - November 2021

It’s been a cruel month for the SCI and stocks in general. After looking good for the first half of November, the index began to nosedive sometime in the middle of the month, very similar to the TSX Venture index trajectory.

Perhaps owing to the Fed’s announced tapering that was to begin in November, gold, silver, copper, oil and other commodities have seen prices fall in the last week or two. Consequently, the commodity price drops have contributed significantly to the losses we’re seeing among mineral explorers and energy stocks, both of which are major components of Canada’s junior exchanges.

After a short-lived run earlier in the month, cannabis stocks — another large segment of the TSXV and CSE – also took a beating in the last couple of weeks. New Cannabis Ventures’ Global Cannabis Stock Index closed the month at a year low — see the chart below…

Mineral Explorers Do It Again

Despite hits to commodity prices, the majority of top performing stocks belong to mineral exploration companies in this month’s Stock Challenge.

And, as illustrated below, Canada’s junior exchanges might still be the best for investors looking for growth potential in the current market.

Final Top 10 Leaderboard

Unlike the last two Stock Challenge rounds, it wasn’t very tight at the top this month. Although an average yield of 47.7% among the top 10 leaders is somewhat low for this contest, pulling off a triple digit monthly return in the current market environment is no mean feat — and that’s the beauty of the small cap game!

All the best with your investments.
